Caring is sharing and in the world of AOSP Android development, that’s more than a motto, it’s basically a rule. More ROMs have been forged from the depths of repositories like Github than any other single source out there and ROMs don’t even comprise all the source code in Android repositories.
It is with the caring and sharing in mind that XDA Senior Member Napster and XDA Recognized Developer DooMLoRD of Team UtterChaos have merged their Touch versions of ClockworkMod Recovery and have released the repositories containing their source code to the public.
Their mission? To give the code to . . . READ ON »
When it comes to Android, the creativity used in development knows no bounds. On a daily basis new, innovative applications are created that expand the capabilities of our phones. I’ve met very few people in this world who do not like money. It stands to reason then, that someone would create a game using greed to make a life or death decision; XDA Member coder1cv8 has done just that with his latest creation, Money or Death.
Your objective is simple: get the money on the ground without being killed by the snake. According to coder1cv8 the game features:
+ great graphic and sound effects
+ realistic animation
+ this game is absolutely free
+ you and your friends may compete with help of OpenFeint
+ it’s simply gambling and. . . READ ON »
Some older devices, and even some current low to mid range devices can have a problem with internal storage. Between all the great Android apps out there, music, videos, pictures and other miscellany, sometimes storage can be problem when you didn’t have much to begin with.
This is a problem that XDA Member Doc_cheilvenerdi.org is looking to fix with a hack that will allow users of the Samsung Galaxy Mini to manually adjust the internal memory of their device.
The aim of the modification is to increase the internal memory of the Galaxy Mini so users can put more things . . . READ ON »

You may remember that during the HP TouchPad fire sale, a few slates slipped out with a primitive Android Froyo build on them. Well, HP doesn’t seem to know how the tablets hit shelves with Android on board, but its decided to release the source code for the OS. Devs had previously called on the company to hand over the code, but the request was refused since HP had never intended for TouchPads to ship them with Android, so they didn´t were obligated to concede by the open-source requirements.
As a gesture of goodwill to the community, I would say . . . READ ON »
The unspoken motto of the modification world is that there is always more work to be done. No mod is ever complete, no tweak is ever the end-all be-all and no work is perfect. That’s why mods and tweaks exist, to make it all just a little bit better.
It is with this in mind that XDA Senior Member jimdem has released a tweak package for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 that takes the insanely popular CyanogenMod and, dare we say, makes it even better. The tweak package contains a number of modifications and very easy to install. Simply place . . . READ ON »
Diverse entertainment is key to avoiding monotony in our everyday routines. Too often we play games which are neither unique nor original. Fortunately for those of us who are bored with the mundane, XDA Member reiti.net has come to our aid with his latest game, Robo Miner.
Robo Miner is a fresh twist on an old idea: mining puzzle games. You start at the ground level (the top in mining) and make your robot dig through the treacherous mine in search of the prized gem at the bottom. Along the way you’ll encounter falling boulders and complex pathways, increasing the . . . READ ON »
Back when I was in school, I had quite the difficult time remembering which classes to attend every day. In fact on more than a few occasions, I found myself in the wrong classroom—at the wrong time—when I could have been sound asleep. Eventually, I ended up carrying a weekly planner with me to see my schedule at a glance. However, this is far too analog of a solution for the digital world of today.
Now that we’ve been given the gift of nearly ubiquitous Android-powered devices, wouldn’t it be nice if our smartphones could make us… smarter? Thanks to the . . . READ ON »
Developers are always so busy making ROMs the best they possibly can be. However, sometimes things happen that they can’t get to right away. An example of this are OTA updates. Even having the most recent version of a ROM flashed can mean getting notifications for an OTA that’s ready to be installed. Of course, you should never accept an OTA while on a custom ROM because it could break thing. So, what are people to do about it?
XDA Senior Member ThC23 has posted about a number of fixes to that very problem for owners of the Samsung Galaxy . . . READ ON »
