Android 3 aka Gingerbread Details Leaked

Thanks to a tip from XDA member M_T_M, we have learned that Google is not exactly sitting down, patting themselves on the back for the success of Froyo. As it turns out, Google devs are actively working in the next installment of their increasingly popular Android OS. This new version will be known as Android 3.0, codename Gingerbread, and it seems to be fit for mostly high end devices.

According to the article found in the website unwiredview.com, the OS will be designed to put our higher end devices to the test. The minimum requirements for the OS to run properly are along the lines of 1 GHz processors, 512 MB RAM, and a 3.5 inch screen (1280 x 760 of resolution will be an option whenever a device with these screens becomes available). Please keep in mind that these are all minimum specs! So, if you are expecting the next best Android phone to make you a cup of coffee while you are doing your chores, this OS might have enough oomph to do just that.

The details are still scarce but it seems that we should see something made public sometime in October, so keep your eyes peeled.

Please go to the unwiredview to read the full article and for more information.

PhotoMath: A Math Beginner’s Dream App

To me, applications like this one are really important for school students. I bought my first significant Android the same year I began my Physics degree at my university, and immediately I realised how tremendously helpful it was. From accurate graphing applications to TI emulators (don't judge me, the real thing costs crazy amounts here!), passing through giants like Wolfram and MATLAB Mobile, there were a lot of tools for one to excel with. In fact, I'd say that without Android I wouldn't have chosen...

Which App for iPhone Do You Wish Was on Android?

Only a few years ago, it was normal for a major app release to be available for iOS but come months later to Android. That seems to no longer be the case, as Android has advanced tremendously with Google putting a huge effort into its Play Store and ecosystem. However, while the majority of major app releases are now made available for both platforms at the same time, there are a few iOS exclusives that some of us wish were on our favorite mobile OS (Hyperlapse comes to mind). Let us know which apps for the iPhone you wish were on Android.
