Okay, it’s not the devices themselves that are downloading apps (though, taken Android literally, it does seem possible). But you get the point – there are some 250 million Android devices out there now, and over 11 billion apps have been downloaded from the Android Market. And no, these stats did not come from Andy Rubin’s famed Twitter account this time, but were instead revealed at Google’s Q4 2011 earnings call.
The rate of new device activations per day is still standing at the 700,000 reported in late December, whereas the total device and download numbers have climbed from over 200 million in November last year to 250 million, and 10 billion downloaded applications from early December to 11 billion, indicating continued growth._________
