Acer Iconia Tab A500 Rooted!

Acer-Iconia-Tab-A500

Merely days after its release earlier this month, Acer’s Iconia A500 Android Honeycomb tablet has been rooted! The tablet, which features a unique Acer UI skin, front and back facing cameras, and a 1GHz dual-core Tegra2 processor, will now allow superuser permissions as a result of some clever work from XDA member monki-magic (original post here)

This was achieved by using XDA moderator  Chainfire‘s newly released Gingerbreak rooting tool.

As many of you will know, the rooting process is a stepping stone on the way to completely customising the device’s software. To have this achieved so quickly can only mean good things for the developmental future of the Iconia Tab.

To find out for yourself how to root the A500, read the instructions in this thread, created by Slowie911.
