The heart of this site has always been modding. Hardware modding has always taken a back sit due to the, sometimes, complex actions to be performed in the process. Hardware modders normally have a lot of experience in cracking devices open, soldering, and more. There are a few mods out there that are not nearly as complex and can be easily done with a bit of patience. For instance, XDA member Childofthehorn has posted a thread about a mod that he made for his EVO, where he placed a LED light in the speaker on the back of the phone. Not exactly useful, but it is cool to see how people can come up with different concepts that will add your device that distinct touch that says “this is my device”.
The guide itself is located in the user’s blog, but you can see the end result in the thread. Judging from the pictures it simply looks like the LED is feeding from the battery directly, so it should be fairly simple to do. Please leave some feedback for the dev if you liked this.
Thought I might post about my HTC EVO Back-lit speaker mod and other things done to my phone physically.
You can find more information in the mod thread.
