You might remember that just under two months ago, the flagship HTC One received an update to Android 4.3 with Sense 5.5, which allowed users to disable BlinkFeed once and for all. Well, a very similar update has now started rolling out to the One’s little brother, the HTC One Mini, and it packs many nice additions.
As expected, this update brings many improvements along with the increased Android version. For starters, the company’s trademark custom skin, HTC Sense, has been updated to version 5.5, which was originally seen on the gargantuan HTC One Max. This brings multitasking UI improvements, an updated interface to its video highlights feature, improvements to the media player, and more. However, the biggest whammy is how the new update finally lets you disable BlinkFeed.
The update registers as firmware version 2.12.401.1, and it comes in at a sizeable 630.55 MB. As expected, the update is being rolled out gradually, so not every device will have access to the update initially. In fact, it appears that only European users are receiving this current wave. However, for those not keen on waiting, XDA Forum Member vrvr has not only mirrored the OTA update, but he has also taken a System Dump of the updated firmware.
If you’re an end user looking to get in on the action early, or if you’re a developer looking to make builds based on the newest OTA, be sure to make your way over to the original thread to get started!
