Android MobileWebCam, WiFi/Mobile Supported, Server Required

Looking for a use for an old Android device or possibly your own Android device? XDA Member _miha_ has developed a simple yet useful webcam app for you device. It allows you to set your device up as a webcam and access the stream from a PC. The only drawback is it requires that you have access to a server that is running PHP, so the app is able to send the images somewhere for an intermediary storage. If you are technically inclined to do so all the files needed are in the OP along with some simple instructions. Here are some notes from the OP:
- Should run on Android 1.5 up (what causes the camera options to be very few and landscape mode only)
- The drawback? You need a PHP capable server somewhere where the picture can be refreshed. There you have to place the two files (mobilewebcam.php and index.html) attached to this post.
- This also can be combined with my WebLiveWallpaper App easily and your webcam is then visible on your homescreen background all day.
- I need some feedback to decide if this is worth to invest more work and which features to add. Please let me know if you like the idea and if it is working at all for you … if you need help with the simple webserver setup.
We hope that you enjoy this app and leave feedback for the developer in the development thread. Also, don’t forget to leave you comments below!
