Android Patcher Tool Brings Various Mods and Tweaks

There are numerous tools available to help users, beginning developers, and even some more knowledgeable developers modify programs and files. Many are pretty well known, including APKTool and Virtuous Ten Studio. However, others are obviously less well known.

The Android Patcher tool falls into the latter category, but it’s already gaining new features with every update. It was developed by XDA Forum Member REDX36 and has a number of updates and features. Some of them include:

Dynamic-extendable tab frame-work:
To make new tabs, add the jar to your classpath (or build-path in Eclipse) and extend the abstract tab class. All needed methods and constructors are forced by the compiler.
To use new tabs, add fully qualified class name of class extending Tab to tabs.txt to add it to the jar.

Comes with two built-in tabs:
LatinIME patcher, lets you remove unchecked dictionaries in the selected LatinIME.apk.
Trebuchet patcher, lets you remove unchecked wallpapers in the selected Trebuchet.apk.
Fonts patcher, lets you remove unchecked fonts in the selected folder.
Extra apps downloader, lets you download apps from the server that didn’t make it into the ROM.
Lets you load an android ROM and sends messages to all the tabs through a hook in the Tab class to let them know where the extracted ROM (thus .apk’s) is.

There are definitely some things there you don’t see terribly often, and many of them could be very useful to some devs and modders—especially the dynamic extendable tabs.
