Just yesterday, we covered a rumor about how the Nexus program may be scrapped in favor of the so-called Android Silver. Naturally this was quite jarring, as Google’s Nexus line-up has come to mean top notch hardware for a bargain basement price. Now of course, this is just a rumor. But given that it’s coming from trusted leaker @evleaks, there may be some truth to this.
Now, according to yet another leak from @evleaks, we have an alleged timetable as to when we should expect Android Silver:
Android Silver, circa February 2015.
While entirely possible, the timetable seems a bit far off. We’ve grown accustomed to seeing yearly Nexus hardware releases, and a February 2015 release would mean up to 16 months since the Google Nexus 5 was released at the tail end of October of last year.
What do you make of all of this? If this year marks the end to the Nexus line, will you give Silver a try? If there is any truth to this rumor, we sincerely hope that Silver doesn’t mark an end to the era of affordable flagships. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
