Just a little over a year ago, Google’s Andy Rubin, whom you may describe as the man in charge of Android, tweeted that there were “over 300,000 Android phones activated each day”. Six months later, in June, there were 500,000. Another six months later, and Android’s growth doesn’t seem to be slowing, with that number climbing to an impressive 700,000.
There are now over 700,000 Android devices activated every day

Rubin followed up his tweet with a post on Google+:
…and for those wondering, we count each device only once (ie, we don’t count re-sold devices), and “activations” means you go into a store, buy a device, put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service.
This comes after Google announced in November that over 200 million Android devices had been activated till then. Still not as much as those 250 million iOS devices Apple sold, as announced at its iPhone 4S event in October, but coming close._________
