Answer a Call by Whistling with Auto Answer

Due to various reasons, driving around while using a phone is not entirely a good idea. They tend to distract us from the road. And as such, driving while using the phone is illegal in many parts of the world. It can also be fatal, as you have 25% of your driving-capable limbs doing something else, such as holding your phone.
There are legitimate reasons why someone might choose to use a device while driving around. Phone calls to take care of business or emergencies could justify this, and a good car cradle might be a good alternative to physically holding your phone. However, this covers just a small portion of the problem. And with car mode natively disabled and/or removed from the newer versions of Android, things get even more complex. So, XDA Forum Member itayg came up with a rather innovative solution for hands-free and minimal interaction with your device.
Enter Auto Answer for Android. The app is similar to other car-mode apps in that its main objective is to allow the driver to drive without leaving the device completely unattended. But this app takes it a step further because of its hands-free characteristics. For starters, one of its main features is that it answers a call when you whistle. Yes, whistle. We have seen our share of different ways to answer or reject calls in the past here in the Portal (anywhere from looking at the device, to waiving your hand, and even shaking the lights out of it), but is is a first.
Basically, the device mutes your ringer and allows you to whistle if you are interested in taking the call. On top of this, you also get a nice car mode UI, which allows for 18 pre-defined one click contact widgets (call your favorite contacts with one click only), and even 9 apps. Other features include the ability to launch the app automatically whenever a BT device is connected and keep your screen powered on when a charger is connected. Last but not least, the app even lets you send scheduled text messages. This way, if you know you are going to be driving somewhere for a certain amount of time, you can schedule a message before hitting the road letting everyone know that you are a responsible human being and will not text while driving.
The app is still in its testing phase, but the dev would like to get some feedback and bug reports if at all possible. So, please take it for a spin, but try not to do it while driving. Please do understand that we do not advise or even suggest that you use your device while driving. As stated, it is illegal in many parts of the world, and you could potentially cause an accident by taking your eyes off the road. Please drive responsibly and if you must use your device, please pull over.
Drive safely! You can find more information in the application thread.
