[APK] Google Camera 2.1 Brings Ability to Take Snapshots while Recording Video

[APK] Google Camera 2.1 Brings Ability to Take Snapshots while Recording Video

A little under a month ago, Google released the brand new Google Camera app to the Google Play Store. Offering many new effects, including a fantastic emulated depth-of-field blur capability, the new Google Camera app quickly became a favorite for many.

Despite the new Google Camera app’s added functionality over the previous stock Android camera, it also lost one very important feature: the ability to take still image snapshots while recording a video. Now, with Google Camera 2.1.042, the feature has returned. And just like before, taking a snapshot while recording video is as simple as tapping the screen while recording. Aside from this, there are no other known changes. However, there could be a few more hiding in the app, as the Google Play Store listing has not yet been updated to reflect v2.1.

Head over to the Play Store listing to get started. As usual, the update is making its way out to consumer devices via a staged rollout. Because of this, not every device will be in the initial wave. However, we’ve gone ahead and mirrored the update over on our Dev-Host account.

Update: As pointed out by XDA Recognized Developer ts1506, this update also fixes the bug where the focus ring would disappear after using the faux lens blur function.

[Many thanks to kautionwirez for the APK!]
