Auto-Updating Weather Wallpapers from Galaxy S II

For a while now, I’ve been using the Go Weather app to get my weather updates and to see some cool auto-updating background videos relevant to the current weather status. For example, if it’s raining, a video plays which shows rain droplets hitting a puddle and creating ripples.

If you’re familiar with the new and upcoming Samsung Galaxy S II, you’ll know that it comes stock with the same sort of thing, but available as a live wallpaper, allowing you to see what the current weather is like in your area.

XDA member Rawat has extracted these videos and compiled them into a simple apk file for anyone to use. Being a Nexus S user, I was extremely interested when I saw a video attached to the thread which showcased the live wallpaper running on a Nexus S. I proceeded to download the apk and can confirm that it works as it should, and frankly, it looks fantastic!

The live wallpaper should theoretically work on any Android device that supports live wallpapers, (Hence why I say it should theoretically work on any Android device), but take the quoted details into account.

[LWP] live wallpaper from Galaxy S II with day/night and Weather animations

I’ve attached the live wallpapers from SGS II. Install them like a normal apk

It works on devices with WVGA resolution, and has also been reported to work on Galaxy Tab. YMMV. It may not work if you have custom DPI settings.

If you want to go ahead and download this spiffy live wallpaper, I urge you to head over to the original thread. Don’t forget to take the time to thank the contributor, too!
