BBC iPlayer Available Through 3G

It is amazing how certain apps are restricted to either certain services or devices. It isn’t a matter of device compatibility, but rather about arbitrary (and often pointless) restrictions regarding the usage of said app. This was the case for the BBC iPlayer app for Android devices. This app lets you watch your favorite UK shows from your mobile. However, this app was limited to being used via WiFi. However, XDA moderator and recognized developerĀ pulser_g2 decided that this restriction made little to no sense, especially for those with truly unlimited data plans. Making an app for mobile is meant to be used on the road, so this hack to this app will allow you to do just that as opposed to being confined to a Wifi network. Keep in mind that this is a data intensive app and and as such if you do not have a truly unlimited data plan, you should refrain from using this app like this. Otherwise, you will likely not be happy when your next cell phone bill gets to you via mail.

Please leave some feedback if this worked for you.

This version of iPlayer lets you watch video on 3G, rather than just the arbitrarily enforced WiFI-only setting.
