When developers want to share their work, there’s a variety of ways they can go about doing so. They can upload to a FTP server, share it using services such as Dev-Host, or (if it’s small enough) attach it in their XDA thread. However, as governments have been cracking down on many file sharing sites, the number of places to upload to are getting smaller. There is another option for ROM developers: torrents.
Torrents have gotten a bad rap, as they are often associated with piracy. However, XDA Senior Member carnageX has posted a website aimed strictly for developers. Of course, with torrent tracker sites, there’s always the risk of piracy in the uploads. To prevent this, BitDroid only allows approved members to post torrents so that uploads can be controlled. While this won’t replace traditional servers, it could still be worth a shot for developers looking for different ways to distribute their work.
