Lots of us buy devices with the idea that they will serve multiple purposes. Anything from being our portable media storage, to our game centrals, all the way to being our mobile office. One thing that we automatically expect to have when we see that the device has Bluetooth functionality is the ability to use a BT headset so that we can use Wifi for chatting and video calling. Well, it looks like the good people over at HTC forgot to add a small module onto the device that allows for this functionality over BT. According to a thread started by XDA member frh1, the HTC Flyer and its WiMax enabled relative, the EVO View 4G, are not exactly equipped with these capabilities. The member apparently spent lots of time pairing different BT headsets and a few hours with Tech support both from Sprint and HTC until he got to one person who was able to identify the problem.
The whole OP is a rather interesting read about one guy in the path for enlightenment. Please take a quick minute to go over it and leave your thoughts in the thread (or in this article).
The Tech guy from HTC called me back yesterday to say they left out HFP (Hands Free Profile) on the American versions of the HTC Flyer and the HTC EVO View 4g.
You can find more information in the original thread.
