Change Stored Login Credentials in Stock Android Browser

While most users end up downloading browsers from 3rd party developers, there are users who prefer their device’s stock browser. While the stock Android browser isn’t bad, and it has made some impressive strides now in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, there are some features missing that other browsers do provide that make other browsers feel a little more polished. However, in our development community, it’s only a matter of time before someone takes matters into his or her own hands and adds in these missing features.

XDA Forum Member Abomb has done precisely this by releasing a modification that allows users to change their password and username info within the browser. The mod comes in apk format, so users simply need to download and use their favorite file manager to install it.

While it’d be nice to see this in the browser app itself, the standalone mod works just as well, and gives users an interface dedicated to changing saved login credentials in the stock browser. It is highly recommended that rooted users backup their browser data with a program such as Titanium Backup before using the app, just in case. Thus far, it’s only been tested on the Galaxy Nexus, but it should work on other devices as well.

For more control over your stock browser’s saved credentials, head over to the application thread to get started.
