There are many mods to do all sorts of things on our devices. One of the most popular ones (and has been since the early days) is the fact that we do not want to advertise our carriers in our devices. This removing any sign of the carrier from the OS is almost always a must. The problem with the EVO (and CDMA devices in general) is that this is no simple task as this is stored in a place that is normally not accessible to regular users, the radio NV files, and in the case of Android, it seems to also be stored within an xml file that must be hex edited. XDA member Karadorde found a much simpler way to do this, at least for AOSP roms. What this means is that Sense roms will not see any changes if you try this method. One of the popular AOSP roms that you may come across is CM series, in case you are wondering if your rom is AOSP or not.
Please leave some feedback for the dev and if you find some similar way of doing this to Sense roms, please share it.
I searched through EVO 4G Themes and Apps and did not find this method; however, I am posting it here in case it is a repost. I suppose a mod could move it later if users find it helpful and they felt inclined to do so.
So far the two main methods I’ve seen are done with CDMA workshop or hex editing .xml files. I didn’t like either of these methods too much. CDMA workshop costs money unless you download it illegally, and even then it only works half the time. I do not care for hex editing very much either. Not to mention the fact that you have to use a text-hex converter and download a hex editor.
You can find more information in the mod thread.
