Check Out Your GPS Status With GPS Monitor for Android

The integration of GPS into our mobile devices was a huge technological leap, completely shattering the boundaries of what a cell phone was capable of. However, this wonderful feature is not great when we don’t really know if it is truly working or not. You may be getting an approximate location from your mobile connection and your GPS may have no clue where you are actually located. So, how can you tell if you have a few satellites locked on you or not? Luckily, XDA memberĀ dragonro brings us a very handy program to monitor this. This app will give you a notification of how many satellites have your location, which will pretty much tell you if you are indeed using your GPS or not. This is better than other diagnostic tools in the sense that it will not require you to have a full app displaying on your device for you to have the information that you need.

The app is in early stages and the dev is looking for suggestions on what kind of functionality he should add in his next update. Please try it out and leave some feedback if you run into any bugs.

What the app does – it activates itself as soon as GPS is in use and deactivates when GPS is no longer in use. While GPS is in use, the app shows a notification icon with the satellites in view. For the moment this is all that the app does, but I am working to add some other features to it.

You can find more information in the application thread.
