We all love to tweak our devices and make them truly our own. In my case, the status bar usually receives a particular amount of attention when I’m touching up the aesthetics of whichever ROM I’m currently using. Unfortunately for those of us who aren’t code savvy, figuring out how to manipulate certain aspects of the UI can be a daunting process. Luckily for us, there are helpful community members like XDA Senior Member Master&Slave who are happy to make these things just a little easier.
He has provided a list of useful modifications that can be made to the status bar and notification area of the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II. Although these may be specific to a Samsung firmware, there’s a good chance that they may also be applicable to other devices as well. The list of tweaks is as follows:
- Center the clock
- Remove the clock
- Remove the date
- Place the clock in the pull-down area and center the clear notifications button
- Center the clear notifications button
- Remove carrier text
To take advantage of these mods you will need to be able to decompile the SystemUI.apk and make adjustments to the .xml files within, so if you aren’t already familiar with that process, then some reading may be in order before attempting this. However, all the necessary code is provided, so that part should be no trouble at all.
If you want to try these out for yourself then head on over to the original thread._________
