While there are tools available to convert ROMs from one type to the next, they sometimes require a number of steps, and are often complicated and frustrating. This is especially true for devices that have their own ROM file type such as Motorola’s SBF or LG’s KDZ. As development on Android continues, it was only a matter of time before developers found a way to switch from those proprietary file types to something a little easier to work with.
For the LG Optimus Black, and possible other LG devices as well, there is now a tool that automatically converts KDZ ROMs to Bin/FLS types with just one click. Developed by XDA Forum Member jes0411, the automated ROM converter also has a number of other features. Among those, users can choose whether or not to inject ClockworkMod Recovery into the ROM as well. Once finished, users can install as usual. If they want root along with it, it’s as simple as downloading the superuser.zip provided in the thread and flashing it after the ROM flash. A nifty tool like this makes conversions a breeze, and should be included in any ROM developer’s tool repertoire.
