Cover Algorithm Rewritten from Scratch, Becomes Automaton

If you’ve been following the Portal recently, you may remember a little program by XDA Forum Member Akshay (Aky) that gave you the ability to intelligently sleep and wake your device. Akshay’s app made it possible to automate the process based on readings from your device’s sensors and emulate smart cover functionality on devices without magnetic sensors.
Akshay hasn’t been idle, it seems, as he has rewritten the app from scratch and fittingly given the app a new name: Automaton – Intelligent Lock/Unlock. When asking Akshay what the biggest changes are in this revision, he stated that the main difference is that this update allows the use of more complex sensor combinations for event triggers, a feature he calls “FUSION,” and the ability to now calibrate sensor values.
A pocket mode was added in this version, where the combinations have been optimized for devices entering and exiting user pockets. The UI also received a major overhaul to streamline the setup process. Upcoming revisions will feature S View flip cover support, as well as air gestures.
If you were a fan of the old version, there should be nothing stopping you from taking a trip over to the application thread to get your update.
