CPSEmu Brings CPS2 Games to Android

If you were an arcade gamer back in the late ’90s or early ’00s, you will undoubtedly remember Marvel vs. Capcom. If that wasn’t quite up your alley, how about Super Street Fighter 2? No dice? What about Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter? In any case, these games are tied together because they all run on the legendary CP System II arcade board (commonly referred to as CPS2).
Now, thanks to XDA forum member Cpasjuste, we can relive this snippet from the Golden Era of 2-dimensional fighters on our Android-powered mobile devices. CPSEmu is a CPS2 emulator that should be compatible with the vast majority of CPS2 games. Furthermore, today’s revision to v1.1 adds performance optimization and Android 3.0+ compatibility. Xperia PLAY owners are in for a special treat, as the game is compatible with its hardware controls.
In the words of the developer:
CPSEmu is a Capcom CPS2 emulator for android. Play your favorites CPS2 games like Marvel Vs. Capcom, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Progear, Mars Matrix and more on your android device.
– Use the same GUI as my NeoGeo emulator “NeoDroid”, so “NeoDroid” will benefit of all the changes added for this release.
– You can put your roms anywhere on your device, but a cache file is created for every (parent) games in a “cache” forlder in your roms directory. If you move your roms, move that folder too.
– CPSEmu use a cache file when running, if you have some slowdown in the emulation, try to move your roms on another partition/sdcard.
– Thanks to frandroid for providing an xperia play device to improve/add control code/compatibility
Proceed to the application thread to relive some of the better gaming moments of yesteryear.
