CronMod Gives Users Options Of A2SD, D2EXT, INT2EXt

For a long time now, users have been enjoying the perks of having scripts like A2SD, which frees up internal storage by installing applications to the SD card. On newer devices with far greater storage capacities, internal storage isn’t a big issue. However, users still enjoy not having that space taken up by all their applications. Since A2SD was first created, there have been other scripts that accomplish the same task in different ways. Some include A2SD+, A2SD++, INT2EXT, D2EXT, and several others. Now, rooted Android users can implement all of them using a script called CronMod.

Developed by XDA Senior Member croniccorey, the script gives users almost every imaginable way to manage their internal and external storage. Each one works in a specific manner, so users can use whichever they want to cater to their own needs. Croniccorey explains them:

A2SD
-Moves /data/app to /sd-ext
-Moves /data/app-private to /sd-ext
-Works with EXT 2/3/4 filesystems
-ZipAligns /data/app on every boot
-No symlinks

A2SD+
-Moves /data/app to /sd-ext
-Moves /data/app-private to /sd-ext
-Moves /data/dalvik-cache to /sd-ext
-Works with EXT 2/3/4 filesystems
-ZipAligns /data/app on every boot
-No symlinks

A2SD++
-Moves /data/app to /sd-ext
-Moves /data/app-private to /sd-ext
-Moves /data/dalvik-cache to /sd-ext
-Moves /data/data to /sd-ext
-Works with EXT 2/3/4 filesystems
-ZipAligns /data/app on every boot
-No symlinks

D2EXT
-Mounts /data to /data_internal and /sd-ext to /data
-Works with EXT 2/3/4 filesystems
-ZipAligns /data/app on every boot

D2EXT+
-Mounts /data to /data_internal and /sd-ext to /data
-Leaves /data/dalvik-cache on internal for speed
-Works with EXT 2/3/4 filesystems
-ZipAligns /data/app on every boot

INT2EXT
-Mounts /sd-ext to /data
-Works with EXT 2/3/4 filesystems
-ZipAligns /data/app on every boot
-No symlinks
-First universal INT2EXT method

INT2EXT+
-Mounts /sd-ext to /data
-Leaves /data/data on internal for speed
-Works with EXT 2/3/4 filesystems
-ZipAligns /data/app on every boot
-No symlinks
-First universal INT2EXT method

With such a variety of ways to choose from, users will have no trouble finding the method that works best for them. Additionally, croniccorey has released a developer-only version that can be included in ROMs (with proper credit, of course). All users need is to be rooted and running a ROM with init.d support. From there, it’s just choosing which one works best for you.
