CyanogenMod, one of the most popular Android ROMs, will shortly be released for the HTC Evo 4G. The new ROM, developed by XDA developer cyanogen, will contain the new Froyo build, with Sense not cooked in. The reason for this is the fact that Sense locks down certain elements of the ROM, which makes it harder to make changes inside the code.

Almost there with evo. Shooting for tomorrow.
The first release is probably going to be missing wimax, hdmi, and fm radio.
Even though WiMax, HDMI and FM radio aren’t available with the release, Cyanogen managed to fix the Camera and camcorder. This hasn’t been done in any Froyo Evo ROM yet, so it’s cool that it will work now.
Cyanogen has cooked lots of Android ROMs in the past, and a lot of people are looking forward to trying the new Evo ROM out.
