Earlier today, we saw a thread in the HD2 section that called our attention. As it turns out, the Desire HD kernels have finally been released by HTC for everyone to dig into and play with. What does this mean? It will have a nice domino effect, starting from the Desire HD itself. Official kernels act pretty much like a base rom in WM terms, as it can be used as a guide and/or source to improve performance on the device. so, you may start seeing far more active development for the Desire HD very soon. But this doesn’t stop here, because there are various ports of the Desire HD roms for many devices out there, including the HD2, the EVO, and the DInc. most of these ports have various flaws, one of them being the camera not working. This official kernel could allow devs to find the missing piece and finally be able to have a full working Desire HD rom in other devices.
The Desire HD kernel source is available at http://developer.htc.com/
