Disable CPU Rendering on Devices with the Adreno 200

It usually isn’t the focus of a developer to remove a feature. There have been countless examples of removing unwanted junk, but you don’t see features removed very often. Now, it is possible to disable CPU rendering, ostensibly to improve both battery life and performance.
XDA Senior Member leolawliet has released a mod that disables CPU rendering. Whether this is a good idea or not really depends on what you use your device for. If you’re a gamer who plays the latest and greatest, this may not be for you, as the mod has shown to marginally decrease benchmark scores. However, if you’re more of a usual phone user, it has been reported that day-to-day tasks have actually gotten smoother with this mod. It has been tested on at least a half a dozen devices and it should work for anyone as long as they have the Adreno 200 GPU, which was most commonly used in the Snapdragon S1.
Installing the mod is very simple. Download the zip file provided and place it in /system/lib/egl, then delete the libGLES_android.so found there. Essentially, it rewrites the relevant configuration file to render from only the GPU. And if all works as expected, this would increase performance and battery because the CPU is being freed up to perform other tasks.
