We humans are inherently social creatures. After all, even the most basement-dwelling of us still like to get out and interact with other beings from time to time. This need for community can even be seen in things so seemingly unrelated to community as the Waze GPS app, where drivers can interact with other Waze-enabled drivers closeby. I’d even wager to say that this community feeling is part of why Waze has its loyal following.
What if you could get a similar experience when travelling by foot? XDA Senior Member Vahndroid84‘s Pickloc gives a very similar end result for when you’re merely traveling bipedally.
The geo-based social network functions as a virtual bulletin board of sorts, where people in a given location can create locs (boards) of a given location. You can add a photo, name, text, and so on. Then, when others are at the locs’s location, they can see what you have pinned. You can also follow other users you “meet,” and create a community-enabled profile.
Go ahead and be social. Make your way over to the original thread to get started. Now as for that link in the first paragraph, how on earth did they find one of my high school photos?_________
