If you are a gamer or like video games, then you more than likely have heard of a device and service called “OnLive”, which came out a couple of years ago. OnLive allows you to play online games for any consoles without actually owning them, for a small fee, of course. The whole thing runs from very powerful servers that give you great gaming experience from your TV and without having to put out $300 for a console or $50 for a game, which you are likely to re-sell for a third of the price once you get tired of it. This new concept in gaming seems to be making its way into Android, because according to XDA member Wobblin30, the HTC Flyer just received an OTA which included something called OnLive Viewer. As its name implies, this app will allow you to follow the intense action of any game being played in the OnLive service. You will only be able to act as a spectator, so while you will likely be drooling over seeing Modern Warfare 3 running silky smooth on your Flyer, you will have to remember that this is not playable (yet). The apk was extracted from the OTA and, according to a few people, it seems to work well for other devices like the EVO 4G.
Please take it for a spin and let us know your comments.
I just checked my Flyer for an update and OnLive Viewer just popped up. After a quick download, I created an account and poked around a bit. I was unable to play any free trials but I would assume functionality is just around the corner.
