Back in June, we brought you news that the Dolphin Browser was was getting a new engine promising major advances in browser technology. Among those changes were:
5-10X faster than the default Android browser
100% faster than Chrome (at times)
Scored over a 450 when tested on HTML5test.com. (HTML5test.com is an a respected tool for testing a browser’s support of HTML5)
Try it out our latest version of Dolphin Engine, the behind-the scenes technology that makes this Dolphin Browser the highest performing HTML5 browser.
Of course, this sparked interest in the new engine. The time to play is now here, as a new Dolphin Browser Beta has been released. Shared on our forums by XDA Forum Member AlbertHu, the Dolphin Browser release is a beta. Therefore, if you do try it out, know that there could be some bugs with it. Some of the features include support for Jelly Bean, the aforementioned Dolphin Engine, and a few more. The full list includes:
Android 4.1 support
Faster page loading and response speed
Stability improvements for Android 2.3+
Improved Flash support
Improved HTML5 canvas support
Various stability and performance improvement
Additionally, the application has full support for Web Worker, Web Socket, and Web Audio along with WebGL. As it stands, Dolphin is one of the better browsers out there. If the Dolphin Engine is half as good as it is expected to be, things are about to get exciting in the mobile browser wars.
