Sometimes good things change either for better or worse. There are very split opinions on Google Voice’s marriage with Sprint to the tune of “love it or hate it” type of mentality. Surely, being able to keep your minutes intact is a wonderful thing and having everything deal with Google Voice is good and dandy, but because of the things that are needed to be “given up,” some people are not so inclined nor happy with the transition. One such individual is XDA member zikronix who decided that he did not want to merge his cell number with his GV number for various reasons, including concerns about privacy on the text messages. However, GV is still something the member wanted to have, so he crafted a handy guide on how to keep Google Voice “classic” and not go down the Sprint route. The guide is less than 10 steps long and relatively simple to follow.
Please give this a go if you are a Google Voice user. If you have any suggestions for improvement of this guide or if you simply would like to leave some feedback, drop by and do so.
Ok so I orginally thought the idea of GV integration with sprint was awesome…after fiddling with it. I was very disappointed.
The problems I had with it were…I dont want to use my GV number as my primary. I dont want to change my GV number to my cell number. Each option had issues that I felt needed to be addressed. Changing my GV number to my cell made it to where txt would be comming into my phone via gv app. Yes there is a work around but ita annoying and I dont want my text stored on line.
