Downgrade Desire S Without Using HTCdev.com

The well known website www.htcdev.com is slowly becoming the go to website for HTC users who want to unlock their bootloaders and get s-off on their bootloaders. However, sometimes there are easier ways for people who don’t want to register their device with HTCdev and want to have the option to retain their warranty.
It is with this in mind that XDA Member shadi22 has posted a method that allows users carrying the HTC Desire S to downgrade from the latest hboot version so that they can attain s-off without all the hassle of the website.
The tools required are easy to obtain and include:
2.misc_version (download attachments below)
3.OLDEST RUU for your “REGION/ BRAND”.. i repeat, specific region to avoid customer ID error.
4. adb (you know how it works)
5. phone in USB debugging mode.
The process is a tad complicated and requires using ADB, so be sure that if you give this tutorial a shot that you carefully read the instructions and follow them. Once everything is flashed properly, then it’s just a matter of running over to revolutionary.io and using the tried and true s-off method.
For those carrying the HTC Desire S and want some s-off goodness, check out the original thread for downloads, full instructions and all your s-off needs. Once you’re rooted and s-off, don’t forget to make that backup before you go flashing anything.
