It looks as if Motorola decided to go the way of the other manufacturers with their smartphone line up. From releasing a couple of devices every so often, to releasing a few per quarter. This time, the big M surprises us with the Motorola Droid 3, which as its name so obviously implies, is the successor of the Motorola Droid 2 (and the grandson of the Motorola Droid). This new version of the device has rather similar specs to those of the Droid 2, but it seems that Motorola decided to scale back on the processor as the D3 comes equipped with a 1GHz OMAP as opposed to the 1.2 GHz OMAP from the Droid 2. However, the device makes up for it in other areas such as doubled internal Rom capacity, which was taken all the way to an accessible almost 13 GB, as well as being loaded with Gingerbread 2.3.4. It also comes loaded with a 4 inch screen (3.7 on the D2) and a higher resolution at 540 x 960. Lastly, the camera was also beefed up to resemble that of its close cousin, the DX2, which now stands at 8 MP with the ability to record video on full HD (1080).
The device will come out later this week, so if you already have one and would like to share some experiences with the community, please do so in the newly created forums.
