A few months back, we wrote an article about a certain app that allowed Samsung device owners to back up and restore their EFS folders, brought to you by XDA Recognized Developer lyriquidperfection. Well, it seems that the dev has been hard at work, tweaking and perfecting his tool in order to bring forth EFS Pro, which is essentially a newer, more complete and capable version of its predecessor.
The new tool has been completely revamped and does more than it was originally conceived to do. Some of the new functions, aside from backing up and restoring the EFS folder include being able to store the backups as tar or img files for easy flashing, automatically backs up the EFS folder on both device and PC for ease of use, and restores the folder with read/write access for those adventurous (and poor) souls who end up with a “read only” EFS folder, among many other perks.
Now, as stated in the previous article, the EFS folder is not something for the faint of heart. Messing with this and the files in it could render your device as an expensive paperweight or frisbee (depending on how mad you get at your device for ceasing to live). However, lots of people find that they can do wonderful and very productive things with it. Hence, the need for such a handy tool.
Please report any feedback you may come across so that the dev can fix it if needed be.
Important: Make sure your device screen is on as you will be prompted for Superuser permissions whilst using Backup and Restore features of EFS Pro!
Also make sure your device is NOT in Mass Storage Mode or Backup and Restore functions will fail.
