Enable Developer Options in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

Enable Developer Options in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

Android has traditionally shipped with developer options that allow quick access to the device from a PC via ADB. Developers find this useful, as it allows them to quickly deploy their app and debug it. The feature is indispensable to Android hackers and enthusiasts as a means to quickly access and control their device from the PC. Several guides, hacks, and mods for Android devices posted here at XDA involve significant use of ADB commands.

If you have recently installed the latest Android 4.2 update on your device or bought one of the new Nexus devices that ship with 4.2, you likely noticed the lack of the Developer Options and searched frantically for them under all the settings. Turns out, Google has hidden the feature in the latest version of Android. We can’t seem to decide whether this is a trolling attempt, a feature, or an Easter Egg. However, the move makes sense since those options can be confusing and unnecessary for most end-users.

Fortunately, XDA Forum Member Warlord711 found how to quickly re-enable the option. You can find the extremely simple method in the forum thread.
