Wanna use your G2 as a mobile hotspot? That’s now possible thanks to an interesting find by XDA members sherifone and HamNCheese. Normally, enabling the Wifi Hotspot requires root acces, but sherifone found a not-so-easy way to do it – with emphasis on not-so-easy. Some advanced steps are needed to establish a stable connection, and temporary root, but once you have it, you will be more than happy with the result.
In short, sherifone found a way to acces the application – which seems to be already installed, but not available in the menu’s. You can do this by installing Launcher Pro, or any other application that lets you insert your own path to create a shortcut on the home screen. Finding the path to the application was easy, thanks to the Nexus One. Now, you might think that you are there, but you aren’t. The hardest part has yet to begin.
The next steps include temporary root, adb commands, and code-level editing to get a stable connection. All the steps are described perfectly in the thread, so if you want to use your G2 as a mobile hotspot, make sure to check it out.
