Enjoy Your Videos on Top of Other Apps with Popcorn Player

So, the latest craze in the Android world, courtesy of Samsung when the Galaxy S3 was released, was the fact that you could now play videos without having to completely quit other apps. This is done by having a floating video player on top of whatever it is you have open on your device. Some people find this annoying, while others consider it the pinnacle of multi-tasking. Whatever your personal preference may be, unless you have a SGS3 or any device that supports this functionality (normally part of TouchWiz ROMs), you should not have to worry about it. However, if you are itching for it and really must watch YouTube clips while browsing XDA through the app, then keep on reading because XDA Forum Member twondcc (posted by Forum Member jeromyyap) has released something interesting for you.

Popcorn player is a video player that supports both online and offline video playback for a wide variety of formats. Having said that, the best part of this app is that the player will stay floating on top of your current window, playing while you do something else. The player window’s size can be easily adjusted via multitouch pinch gesture in case it becomes a little intrusive. Another set of interesting goodies is the fact that the app can have multiple windows simultaneously, it has bookmark features in case you need to stop your video, it can download video files, and it has a simple UI for ease of use. Best of all, the app is completely free and ad free as well!

Unfortunately, the app was taken out of the Play store due to issues (mainly since it can reproduce YouTube clips, Google does not allow it), but a download link can be found in this post. Please leave some feedback for the dev to better the app if needed.

PopCorn Player (Caramel) is a minimalistic and simple pop up player for Phones and Tablets with Android 4.0 and above.
