Enter Iris (So Long Siri, We Hardly Knew Ye…)

Android developers have a rather unique sense of humor when it comes to mocking Apple. Unless you have been living under a stone for the last month or so, when the iPhone 4S was announced, one of its biggest marketing pushes was that of an app called Siri, which basically enables the user to have a conversation with the device. The app can return answers in much of a similar way as to looking for something in Google, or maybe by asking guru (I knew it looked familiar). XDA member vari9 points us to an app developed by a few devs over at dexetra that basically does the same exact thing as Siri. Total development time? 8 hours, according to the devs. Needless to say, this little amount of time put in the app almost guarantees that it is in alpha stage and as such you are likely to receive weird answers or no answers at all, but as with everything in the world of Android, this is a work in progress, which will flourish rather soon due to the large interest that was generated on this technology thanks to Apple’s marketing efforts.

The app can be obtained freely from the market. Oh, and for those old timers from the Windows Mobile era… yes, there was a browser called Iris Browser for WM, so stop thinking about it. You’ve seen the name before.

Please post your feedback regarding the app.

Yeah, Iris is siri in reverse. Inspired from the iPhone feature Siri, iris interacts with you in voice.
