Extremely Alpha ICS Port Appears for Xperia PLAY

Just under a week ago, we broke news that Sony Ericsson became the first major vendor to offer an official ICS update. Although the release was technically an alpha build, the reception was overwhelmingly positive.

Unfortunately, many XDA members were left out in the cold since there were initially only 3 supported devices. While support was eventually added for a few more devices, many Sony Ericsson device owners were still left longing for Google’s most recent tasty treat.

However, this is XDA, folks. We are the land of cellular freedom, and our developers give us the tools necessary to overcome the limitations of our devices—arbitrary or not. To this end, XDA forum member nickholtus has ported the official alpha ICS release to the Xperia PLAY.

finally we have ICS fully booted on the xperia play!!

This is a very alpha build!!

Most things doesn’t work for now but this is the begin.

Those looking to get in on the alpha action should proceed to the ROM thread. However, as with any preliminary release, don’t expect this to be a daily driver any time soon.
