Live Wallpapers support is one of the signature features of Android that sets it apart from its competition. While most live wallpapers that we come across serve a merely cosmetic purpose, at times we run into ones that can be quite functional as well. Brought to us by XDA Member stilv, FacebookMagic and TwitterMagic are two simple and minimal Live Wallpapers that bring updates from your Facebook and Twitter accounts to your Android home screen.
Both the apps are pretty much identical when it comes to functionality, and differ only in the social network they support. You simply need to choose the app as your Live Wallpaper, connect your Facebook or Twitter account to it from its settings, and viola: Updates from the social media service will start appearing on your home screen. You have the option to choose between a white and black background, and everything else is kept quite minimal. For the Twitter variant, you can also choose to show updates for a particular #hashtag instead of your timeline.
There is a major limitation in the lite versions of the apps: They offer only a 12 hour update interval, unlike the paid variants that let you choose between 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minute update intervals. While it is understandable to offer a premium feature exclusively in the paid version of an app as an incentive for users to buy it and support development, a more practical update interval such as an hour would have been a more suitable choice for the free versions nevertheless.
