There’s certainly no shortage of replacement keyboards out there for your Android device. Although Google’s latest offering is quite good, many of us choose to use them instead of the stock option. Two names probably spring to mind immediately, but forget about them because we are here to look at one that you may not have already heard about, and perhaps isn’t as widely recognized as it deserves to be.
TouchPal keyboard has been around for a while now, and although I haven’t used it for quite some time I was pretty excited to see a thread pop up here on XDA to say that they are looking for beta testers for the upcoming version.
While I haven’t yet taken the new version for a spin (or perhaps that should be slide), I do remember this being a very capable and user friendly keyboard which falls somewhere between “the big two” in terms of functionality. According to the TouchPal team the main new features of V5 are going to be;
- A brand new user interface
- Improvements to the TouchPal Curve feature
- Brand new contextual prediction.
Applying for the beta program is pretty simple, and everything you need to know is outlined in the forum thread. Go and check it out if you’d like to contribute to the development of this new version._________
