Firefox Browser Add-On Helps Remove Regional Restrictions

Firefox is one of the most popular browsers for desktop-class operating systems, and many favor the browser on Android as well—especially since Mozilla is trying to make it work for everyone. Firefox also has a healthy supply of add-ons to help make the user experience complete. A new add-on was added recently to help overcome regional restrictions.

Of course the question is what exactly that would be useful for. XDA Forum Member michaelmotes, who posted this to the forums has an example:

For instance, my mobile phone connects to gateways in Oklahoma or Texas, it switches between the two, to connect to the internet. But, I live in Arkansas. So when using watchESPN website to stream football games, if the game is blacked out in the the state of my gateway, then watchESPN will block me from watching the game, even if it isn’t blocked in Arkansas.

The add-on essentially bypasses regional restrictions by setting the IP address to somewhere that doesn’t have those restrictions. As in the aforementioned example. The add-on comes in an unusual format, xpi. Users install it using Firefox itself.¬†For more details and download links, check out the original thread.
