First Rooted Stock ICS ROM for TF101 Released!

YUMMYIceCreamSandwichPlush

Yesterday, we learned about some rather interesting and good news for all original Eee Transformer owners. Asus had started rolling out some FOTA updates for TW versions of the pad and announced that today would be the day in which US and WW would roll out as well. It seems that Asus did good on their promise and finally has released the much anticipated 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich for the TF101. We were hoping that the update would not make users lose root and thanks to the efforts and swiftness of XDA member MrNago, it seems that our prayers were heard. Normally, FOTA updates do not work on rooted devices with custom ROMs on them as chefs normally either remove the functionality or simply disable it/prevent it from running. So, the only way to get the update this way is to go back to an unrooted, stock build, which requires quite a bit of time. MrNago has provided a ROM, flashable through CWM recovery which does not require you to do any of the above. It installs in the same way as any other: go into recovery, wipe everything, flash, and you are off!

A few notes regarding this build though. It seems (reported by many people) that USB to PC is not working, so you may not be able to connect through ADB. Also, if your tab is a “G” version, DO NOT FLASH THIS! Asus claimed that they are still working on updates for the few models in between (TF101G and Slider). If you do flash it on your TF101G, you will get tons of random reboots, which will force you to roll everything back.

Flash carefully, have fun, and please leave any and all feedback in the thread, so that problems on this new build can be identified.
