Focal Developer XpLoDWilD to Speak at Big Android BBQ 2013

Focal Developer XpLoDWilD to Speak at Big Android BBQ 2013

So the 2013 iteration of the Big Android BBQ is fast approaching—in fact, in just over 24 hours. All sorts of excitement is bubbling, and with a full slate of talks and events it’s sure to be an exciting time. XDA will be there yet again, and we’re happy to announce that Elite Recognized Developer XpLoDWilD will be speaking as well.

If you aren’t familiar with XpLoDWilD, one could say you have probably been living under a rock. His Focal application is one of the more exciting Open Source projects to enter the scene in quite a while. Xplod is one of the nicest, most personable developers you’ll ever come in contact with. With plenty of projects under his belt, from BBQScreen to his work with CyanogenMod as a device maintainer for many devices, he’s done a lot for the Open Source community in such a short time. That is one of the reasons why we are so looking forward to his talk at the BABBQ. He’s calling it “Developments in the Open Source Community,” and here’s the description:

The Open Source Initiative defines open source as “a development method for software that harnesses the power of distributed peer review and transparency of process. The promise of open source is better quality, higher reliability, more flexibility, lower cost, and an end to predatory vendor lock-in.” This session will discuss how this looks (or sometimes doesn’t look) in the open source community and how new initiatives can help bolster the open source mindset in the Android community for both the developers and the end-users.

If you are going to be at the BABBQ, you won’t want to miss this. And if you can’t make it, stay tuned for more information about his talk as well as hopefully a video replay.
