G2 Permanent Root Achieved

It looks like it has been quite a day for the new Desire family owners. As you may have seen already, the Desire HD obtained perm root and apparently, roughly at around the same time, T-Mobile’s G2 (Vision) got the same gift from our devs. XDA member unforgiven512 has posted a very comprehensive how to guide (based on the work of scotty2), which will take you through the step by step on permanently rooting your G2. This is a major achievement on work that has been going on since before the release of the device these past couple of weeks.
The process is straight forward but must be followed down to the “T” as there is a risk of bricking your device (which happens to be the case for pretty much anything we do with our devices anyways). Feel adventurous enough? Remember to read the whole thing before you proceed.
WARNING: THIS COULD PERMENANTLY BRICK YOUR PHONE, INSTEAD OF ROOT IT IF YOU DO THE EVER-SO-SLIGHTEST THING WRONG. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED. I AM NOT LIABLE FOR YOUR STUPIDITY. ALSO, THE HBOOT FILE LOCATED HERE SHOULD ONLY BE USED ON THE G2. IF YOU SO CHOOSE TO USE THIS ON YOUR DESIRE Z, DESIRE HD, MOTOROLA RAZR, WHATEVER, IT WILL PROBABLY SCREW THINGS UP. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, ONCE AGAIN!
On that note, I would not recommend this on any phone other than the G2, as I have not personally tested it.
