Get the Official BBC Olympic App Outside the UK

It would be downright irresponsible if we didn’t take at least one opportunity to mention one of the great sporting events in history, the Olympics. While the Olympics don’t really have anything to do with Android development, that doesn’t mean that XDA doesn’t have anything Olympics related. Recently, the BBC released an official London Olympics application for Android. The features are as follows:
- Top stories
– Daily live text commentaries from BBC journalists
– Detailed schedule and results for every event
– Medals table
– A page for every Olympic sport
– A page for every competing country
– A page for every Olympic athlete taking part
– Read the homepage top stories offline
The application is available in the Google Play Store, but only for people in the United Kingdom. Why only a local demographic, no one can be quite sure, but now users can get the official BBC Olympics application wherever they are. XDA Senior Member charliebigpot has uploaded the apk here on XDA for anyone to enjoy.
So far, there’s two applications uploaded. Version 1.0.0 of the app and version 1.1.0. So it’s safe to say that if they release any more updates that they’ll likely be released here as well. The application is free, but it’s only available in the UK. So for anyone who’s been following the Olympics this year, this is definitely an application worth looking into.
