The Sony Xperia Sola comes with a rather unique feature. One of it’s stock wallpapers exploits the extreme sensitivity of the screen and allows user interaction with the wallpaper without having to physically touch the screen. While this is a rather impressive novelty, it doesn’t serve any real purpose.
XDA Senior Member neectron has managed to unlock this so called “floating touch” feature, and enable it throughout the entire user interface. The dev states that while it is rather impressive to see in action and to use, floating touch can be difficult to master and takes some practice.
Installation is done via a flashable zip. An app is also provided to switch the feature on or off as required, though this still requires a reboot to take effect. Is this the end of those annoying screen fingerprints and smears? Not quite, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction.
If you want to try out this floating touch input, head on over to the mod thread.
