The juggernaut of the internet, Google, shows no sign of slowing down. Killing off unpopular creations, brewing up new things in their famous lab, taking on Facebook with two different social network products, and continuing to stay on top of the search engine game are just some of the things Google is famous for.
Overlooked by many, Google Docs is essentially an online version of Microsoft Office that allows people to collaborate and share documents easily. However, this has changed. According to a thread created by XDA Forum Member rajitsingh, there is now an update available. Google Docs is now Google Drive. According to the Play Store here is what’s new:
- Quickly find files that have been recently opened, edited or shared with you
- Upload/Download all file types to/from your Google Drive
- Selecting contacts to share with is easier
- Faster navigation of folders when syncing in the background
- Choose text alignment in the documents editor
Some users have been receiving an error stating, “Your Google Drive is Not Ready Yet.” However, In typical XDA fashion, a work-around has been found. XDA Forum Member hijewpositive describes how to activate your drive faster.
There have been warnings that with this change in direction from Google Docs to Google Drives, the pricing structure has also changed. Depending on subscription level, prices have increased as much as 6 times. As such, it is recommended that you don’t cancel your old plan just yet.
