Google Glass XE17 Firmware Trickling out to Glass Explorers

A little under a month ago, Google Glass received a rather healthy update to firmware version revision XE16. For those who don’t recall, XE16 brought all the latest KitKat goods, as well as several new features such as Photo Bundles, photos in hangouts, voice commands sorting, and more. A little while later, the factory images for this update were released, and a pre-rooted bootloader was made available. Now, XE17 has just been released, and it’s trickling out current Glass explorers.
Unlike the previous XE16 update, today’s XE17 build doesn’t bring anything in the way of brand new features, making its version number a peculiar choice for Google. That said, XE17 is still a significant upgrade, as it “XE17 fixes some bugs that caused Glass to unexpectedly restart.” And according to the XE17 release notes, “Even more improvements are coming soon.”
The update is currently making its way to consumer Google Glass Explorer Edition devices by way of a staged OTA rollout. Unfortunately, the update has not yet been pulled and mirrored. That said, when it is available, it will be posted to XDA Recognized Contributor TheManii‘s stock firmware repository.
