Arguably one of the coolest features of Jelly Bean is Google Now. It can do a whole bunch for just taking up a few slots in your notifications, including showing updates on your favorite sports teams, directions, weather, and even public emergencies. However, outside of Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean, it’s not really possible to get Google Now. But there is now a way to get its functionality on any Android device.
XDA Senior Member J_M_V_S has released a guide that will show you how to take advantage of Google Now’s awesomeness through Google Talk. Granted, you have quite every feature like in the official application. What it will do is answer any inquiry as long as you know how to type it. Some example commands are:
Score : Let’s you search the score of the specified team
Weather : Tells you the current weather on defined location
Define : Dictionary
Translate : Translator
Web : Google!
Getting the functionality is pretty easy. You just need to add email@example.com to your Google Talk and you’re ready to start issuing commands. While it cannot replace the full experience of Google Now, this can definitely give those who have no chance of seeing it on their phones a chance to use its functionality.
